Corticospinal Excitability during a Perspective Taking Task as Measured by TMS-Induced Motor Evoked Potentials

Only by understanding the ability to take a third-person perspective can we begin elucidate neural processes responsible for one’s inimitable conscious experience. The current study examined differences in hemispheric laterality during first-person (1PP) and (3PP) taking task, using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Participants were asked either 1PP or 3PP when identifying number of spheres virtual scene. During this single-pulse TMS was delivered motor cortex both left right hemispheres 10 healthy volunteers. Measures TMS-induced motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) contralateral abductor pollicis brevis (APB) employed as an indicator lateralized cortical activation. data suggest that hemisphere is more important discriminating between 3PP. These add novel method determining literature supporting role meta representation.
